This Vail winter wedding was a decade in the waiting for these two! I loved hearing from their friends and family throughout their day about their journey – how they met in elementary school, became high school sweethearts, and finally tied the knot last week in beautiful Vail, Colorado. Their wedding was a more intimate affair with just friends and family that traveled with them all the way from St. Louis, Missouri to celebrate alongside them both. Colorado has long been a favorite vacation spot for both Shelby and Andrew, so they knew right away that it would be their destination wedding location, too!
And naturally Vail was the perfect spot for a December wedding complete with skiing and enjoying the slopes! These two wished for fresh snow for their big day, and Vail delivered snowing on and off throughout their whole day. We got adventurous and even rode the gondola to the top of the mountain and were able to get some portraits (dodging skiers and snowboarders along the way!).
Shelby and Andrew love their sweet pup, Hallie, and made sure to bring her along for not only their big wedding trip but included her as part of their first look portraits – so, so sweet! I also will always remember watching their family come down the aisle to the Star Wars Vader song, Super Mario theme, and watching the bride walk down with her dad to The Lord of the Rings hobbit song. They included some sweet details as a nod to Lord of the Rings, as well, at their reception and it reminded me of their dream to one day visit New Zealand.
I loved how adventurous and fun Shelby and Andrew’s relationship is! Hearing how Andrew got a concussion on the ski slopes just a day before their wedding and how Shelby will speed down the mountain – these two aren’t one to shy away from a new experience!
Shelby and Andrew, what a joy it was to capture your special day all the way up in Vail! I hope your day was everything you dreamed it would be complete with fresh snow surrounded by your friends and family. I hope you get to take that trip to New Zealand someday soon (and I’ll live vicariously through you!!).
