This Lost Gulch Lookout engagement shoot was so perfectly timed! I love it when a plan comes together *wink, wink* (as if I have any control of the weather!). We have had so much rain this summer which has been so good and it keeps everything so green! But it sure makes it tough to schedule sessions when we have to reschedule them constantly! Even though I was driving through pouring rain leaving Castle Rock to head to Katie and Bryan’s session, I could tell I was driving towards sunshine (and what turned out to be such a perfect session)! And crazy enough, just as I was driving away once the sun had set, the rain started again! Couldn’t have worked out better!
I had the privilege of meeting Katie and Bryan through working for Felicia Marti Photography. And Katie and Bryan first met five years ago when she was visiting a friend in Denver at a social event and they were able to stay in touch and start dating long distance. Fast forward a few years later and they were all on a family vacation in Venice, Italy. Talk about an opportunity not to miss! Bryan was able to surprise Katie and proposed while on a gondola ride in January of last year. Soon after the pandemic hit the U.S. and that turned many of their plan upside down. But it meant they were given plenty of time to plan all that they had dreamed up for their big day!
Katie had planned to have her hair and makeup trial run the same day as their engagement session which was such a fun way for her to not only see her hair and make up in pictures, but to be dressed up for their pictures! I love this idea!
We had so much fun exploring around Lost Gulch Lookout – it was my first time up to this location and it did not disappoint. We also had a spectacular sunset that we couldn’t help but stay until we had no light left to capture – just wait til you see at the end of their session!
