A year ago I was excitedly planning a Moab family trip for our kids Spring Break from school. But just before we reserved the hotel and made our plans, the world started to shut down due to Covid. Sooo, fast forward a whole year and we decided this year would work for taking our trip! I grew up in Colorado, just a six hour drive from Moab, and had never been even in to Utah! So I was long overdue, and I was probably the most excited in our whole family for our trip, ha!
The six hour drive was a perfect length for the kids, and when we arrived we had plenty of time to explore the park a little before heading to our hotel. We packed as much as we possibly could into the three nights/four days we were there. We definitely wore out the kids, and wore out their enthusiasm for the sites by the end! It was amazing to see the parks, the views, the magnitude of the rock formations. I was truly in awe and so surprised when my kids didn’t always share my excitement. So I made sure to take plenty of pictures so I can one day show them when they’re older and (maybe?) they’ll appreciate it a little bit more.
Some challenges from our trip was LOTS of potty accidents. I’m not sure if it was the combination of being the car extra, trying to avoid using porta potties, or drinking lots with being outside extra but I’m sure thankful I packed lots of extra clothes! The other thing that I didn’t think about as much before leaving for Moab was how many areas were truly dangerous, especially with little ones! We learned really quickly which areas of the parks were safe, and which areas were better left for when the kids were older. Lets just say I was in constant prayer that the Lord would keep my children safe! And He sure did, we had a wonderful time exploring and making so many new memories!
There were so many beautiful sights, I kept wishing I had a photo session there – it would have been epic to say the least! I’m jealous of the photographers I know in the area who get to photograph there all the time!
I had SO many pictures I had to work hard to narrow them down to share here! Enjoy my favorites from our trip! And if you ever want to fly me out to Moab to capture portraits, I’m 100% in already!!
Newspaper rock was a long drive out of the way (especially for the kids) but it was so cool to see!
Did you enjoy these travel pictures from our Moab family trip? Be sure to check out my trip to St. Augustine, too!
