Kayla and Patrick’s Wild Basin Lodge wedding was the perfect Fall day! I had the privilege of capturing their big day for Felicia Marti Photography. But it was months in the planning and replanning with all the changes that Covid has thrown our way! Around a year ago when I first connected with both Kayla and Patrick they were searching for all of their vendors for their big day and wanted to make extra sure that their photographer was someone they would connect with and love being around. And I love that because that’s exactly what I want for all the couples and families I photograph! My heart is to serve my clients and become friends with them! I want to help make make their day and their whole experience with me an unforgettable one. So after chatting with both Kayla and Patrick and deciding we would be a good fit, we decided on getting their engagement pictures at the beautiful Chautauqua Park in Boulder (which you can see right here!).
It was such a joy to be with Kayla and Patrick on their big day! They were married at the picturesque Wild Basin Lodge in Allenspark, CO. It is so perfectly situated at a clearing surrounded by mountains and, because it was Fall, also surrounded by beautiful yellow aspen trees! It was a gorgeous, exceptionally warm Fall day for being October – perfect for a wedding day!
The day started with meeting Kayla and her mom and bridesmaids in their dressing room at the lodge. The room was filled with calm and excitement and, as always, a little anxiousness that hair and makeup was a wee bit behind. But I loved seeing Kayla and giving her a hug before we really got started! Their day was finally here and things were moving along just as they should!
It felt like it was not that long ago I was getting to know both Kayla and Patrick at their engagement session in Boulder. I loved hearing about how they had met and the story of how God brought them together. Both of them had moved from out of state and decided on Colorado. And both just happened to decide on trying an online program to see if they might find their person that way. I loved when Patrick mentioned that he just knew the first time he saw her how special she was!
It was such an honor to be part of their big day! Patrick and Kayla’s love and affection for each other was so special to see. Just wait til you see Patrick’s reaction to seeing Kayla coming down the aisle – so memorable and sweet! My heart was so happy for not only Patrick and Kayla but for their family, as well! Seeing so much love between Kayla and her parents as they were giving their only baby girl away brought me to tears, too! They shared so many sweet moments and gifts! Kayla’s mom surprised Kayla with her something old – a handmade pin to attach to her bouquet. And Kayla gifted her dad, Tony, a new tie with a picture of her and her dad together sewn into that back. These sweet little touches were so special and so memorable. And Kayla’s thoughtfulness didn’t end there! She even had custom cuff links made for her groom with their first song lyrics engraved into them.
Kayla and Patrick, you are both so amazing! I loved being a part of your big day and I’m so excited to see where God leads you in your new adventures in Texas! And hopefully one day soon you’ll get to take that honeymoon cruise to Australia!!
Enjoy some of my favorites from their day below!!
