With the crazy weather we’ve had this year in Colorado with so much rain, one of the first things I did when I woke up was check the forecast for the day – perfectly clear! I was so happy and thrilled for Ashlee and Chris knowing we would have such a beautiful day ahead for their Cheyenne Mountain Resort wedding.
Soon after arriving at the resort, though, the planner informed me they were in the middle of deciding whether to move the ceremony inside – the forecast had changed and rain was on its way yet again! Thankfully, the forecast showed everything would hopefully be clear by the time the ceremony would begin, so we started the day optimistically!
And everything did start so beautifully! Ashlee kept apologizing that they went overboard with their details and I just wanted to say the more the better! I love getting to capture the little moments and story elements that make up your day. And Ashlee and Chris had so many personal touches throughout their whole day.
Their own story started when they met online through Bumble. Ashlee’s friend swiped right for her when she saw Chris was originally from Georgia – just a short three hour road trip away from where Ashlee grew up in Tennessee. But both their life journey’s had brought them to Colorado where their story together would begin.
Chris ended up totally surprising Ashlee when he proposed near where their wedding would take place 18 months later. He even managed to video the whole proposal on his phone as it happened! Ashlee’s gorgeous solitaire ring is stunning – just wait til you see!
There were so many memorable and sweet moments throughout their wedding day. The rain did, indeed, make its appearance in time for Ashlee and Chris to share their first look. But as we worked our way through wedding party portraits, we watched the rain slowly blow south and away and usher in the sunshine I knew was hiding behind those clouds.
And so it was the sunshine came out just in time for Ashlee and Chris to exchange vows on the beach front under the mountain peaks of of Colorado Springs where their story had begun. And with many smiles and excitement we all cheered as they shared their first kiss. We took every advantage of the sunshine God sent our way and took their sunset portraits out on the deck of the Cheyenne Mountain Resort.
From beginning to end, their day was gorgeous and joy filled! I’m so excited to share some highlights from their day!
Chris and Ashlee, it truly was an honor to capture your wedding day! It was a joy to witness and share in your joy and be a part of your new beginning together! Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Bailey!!
