When Tanya asked me if we could do some winter family pictures for them when their oldest daughter, Chloe, was home from college I knew it could be a testy time of year for weather! Colorado weather is already a little unpredictable, but add in some freezing temperatures and unpredictable snow showers and you never know what you’re gonna get! As this day went on I watched as the clouds rolled in and the temperatures began to fall knowing it was bound to be a cold session! But I knew that the location they had picked – Highlands Ranch Mansion – was a beautiful backdrop no matter the weather!
So despite the freezing temperatures, their whole family were such troopers smiling and laughing and teasing each other the whole time! Towards the end of our session rain slowly started and then quickly turned to sleet! But honestly the little bit of snow that managed to catch in Chloe and Mia’s hair is my favorite!
I’ve had the privilege of capturing the Layman family a few times before, and its always such an honor to be asked again to capture a family! The last time I captured them all together was two years ago as last year John was actually deployed on the other side of the world! (See their last family session here) I love seeing them all together again knowing how hard that time of separation must have been. And especially memorable to see them all together for Thanksgiving as Chloe had left for her first year of college!
I love that these family pictures commemorate this year of changes for them, and the joy of being together at the Holidays once more!
Tanya and John, I am so thrilled that you asked me to capture you all again and pray that these pictures become treasured moments to look back on this time in your lives for many years to come! Enjoy some of my favorites from their wintry mansion session!!
