Cheesman Park Engagement | Stanley and Lauren

This Cheesman Park engagement session was a long time in coming! I got to shoot Stanley and Lauren’s engagement session for Felicia Marti Photography, and I’m so thrilled I did because I loved meeting these two! With all that has happened this year between the Covid shutdowns and delays and then having riots in downtown Denver, we had to push their downtown Denver session back. But it was all worth it in the end because we ended up with a gorgeous evening and no riots or graffiti to be seen!

I love hearing each of my clients stories of where they came from and how they met and what led them to today. Stanley is in the middle of a career shift from working with Comcast and getting his masters while Lauren is working hard as a nurse and educating others! They are a busy and hardworking pair! And even though their Fall wedding had to be pushed back and is now a Spring wedding, I know it will be worth the wait and all the more celebratory when it happens in April next year!

This pair lives in downtown Denver and wanted that to be their backdrop for their portraits. So we landed on Cheesman Park! One of my favorite parts of this park is the beautiful columned pavilion right in the middle. The large white pillars and stones make for such beautiful, clean light. The one downfall was so many other people love the park, too! So working around a tai chi group practicing in the middle of the pavilion followed by a yoga group along with countless others just enjoying their evening picnicking, walking, and riding bikes! So taking our moments when we had them for a wide shot worked well and then shooting tight lots of times made it so you couldn’t even tell we were surrounded by people!

And I loved Lauren’s gorgeous ring and the story behind it! Stanley look Lauren’s grandmother’s ring (in an old style) and used the smaller diamonds to redesign a ring around an amazing new diamond! I love that her ring has this story and history and what a sweet story to pass down to their own kids one day.

I can’t wait to celebrate alongside them and capture their big day next Spring!
