I love capturing summer maternity portraits! The warm, setting sun and a beautiful evening make them all the more special to capture!
So much anticipation, so many unknowns, so much joy, and so much amazement – really SO many emotions wrapped up in the excitement of welcoming your first child! I think back on when our Evan was born now almost 8 years ago and our journey of parenthood beginning. What a transformative time! I love that I got to capture a little bit of that for my brother and sis-in-law as they prepare to welcome their first munchkin and grow their family!
Just over a year ago I was capturing their engagement pictures, so it was SO fun to be able to capture them again with the joy of welcoming their sweet baby girl due this October! And one the best parts is living close enough to share their journey with them. What a blessing to be able to live close to family and the joy that comes with it!
For Matt and Ricki’s session we headed just south of Castle Rock with the wide open fields and views of the foothills in the distance. One challenge with their session was the looming clouds threatening rain! It made for some dramatic shots! And towards the end we got some sprinkles, but you can’t even tell! Sometimes when storms roll in you get lots of wind, but this time we ended up with some dramatic storm clouds but no crazy wind! And even better, we had a gorgeous pink sunset to wrap us up.
I can’t wait to meet this sweet girl in just a couple months! I have a feeling she’s going to instantly have four doting cousins!
These summer maternity portraits are definitely a new favorite! See another favorite summer maternity session here!
