Happy Tuesday! This week we celebrated my little! My bitty Adeline turned one this week! Its crazy to me that a whole year has already flown by.
A year ago yesterday, in the middle of the night, I woke up to my water breaking which was quite eventful for me because I’ve always had my water broken for me while in labor with my last two pregnancies! Its a crazy feeling! So at 2 in the morning I hopped out of bed and right into the shower while Abe quickly packed some things together to head to the hospital. Just the weekend before my midwife had told me that she didn’t think I would go into labor anytime soon and would likely be a week late like I had been in the past. So I relayed this to my parents who were to supposed to come care for our boys when I went into labor. Needless to say, they weren’t prepared for a phone call that baby girl had decided to arrive a whole week early! When we couldn’t reach them in the wee hours of the morning, we called our sweet friend, Tania, who not only answered the phone but excitedly came to help us in the middle of the night! Tania, you are truly a life saver!
Minus the embarrassment of having my water break more while waiting in the emergency room, we had no mishaps checking in and getting ready for our baby girl’s arrival. Soon after getting situated, though, I started having an aura for a migraine. I have long been plagued by migraines, but it never once crossed my mind that I would get one during one of the hardest things I’ve ever done – labor! So despite all that I had hoped for in having an all natural birth I gave in to an epidural. Within 3 or 4 hours (I was totally out of it at that point and can’t even quite remember!) the migraine wore off and it was clear Adeline was ready to be born! So with the midwife called and 20 minutes of pushing our little darling arrived! And she was our biggest baby yet at 9 lbs, 12 oz! She was so perfect and wonderful and I still can’t believe she’s already one!
Throughout the last year I took pictures of our little Adeline each month in our little nursery rocker. We got a little bear that has velcro numbers you can attach for each month and the last two months Adeline figured out that she could take them off! So here’s a collage of our baby girl growing up over the last year!
And I’ll leave you with a recipe we tried tonight! Grilled Chicken Bruschetta was super easy and yummy – even my four and three year olds ate it up! So if you need something new and easy – there you go!
