Having the privilege to take these newborn family pictures for the King Family was so special. Every baby is a miracle, but their sweet little Ruby was an especially exciting one for Ryan and Deidre! They have long waited for God to bless them with their own growing family, and it was such a joy to rejoice alongside them at little Ruby’s arrival and the celebration of watching their family grow.
When I pulled up to The King’s home in Elizabeth, I was immediately reminded of pulling into the driveway of my own grandparents home up in Canada. Just some of the similarities struck me with their countryside home, long driveway, and welcoming porch. My first thought was, “what wonderful memories will be made here,” and I am so excited for the three of them and all the memories that are to come!
Sweet little Ruby was just 5 lbs, 15 oz at birth and had to spend some time in the NICU, but when she came home her darling, cozy little nursery awaited her. I loved all the details that Ryan and Deidre had gathered in expectation of her arrival, especially all the baby shower cards hung up by the windows to welcome little Ruby and show off just how many are rejoicing at her birth!
As her lungs continue to grow stronger day by day, Ruby still needed to be on oxygen most of the time. But thankfully she was able to be off of it for her pictures, and both Ryan and Deidre kept remarking how strange and wonderful it was to see her little face without all the tubing and stickers! It reminded me of when our own little Connor was on oxygen at just one month old and how wonderful it was to see his little face – fully seen and cherished.
These first few months are full of sleepless nights, I know, but oh what sweet memories! I loved getting to capture some family pictures of the three of them together to remember little Ruby’s first days home and together as a family of three. From the details of her sweet nursery, to precious cuddles with this little one, to basking in the Spring sunshine at their property. So much joy and gratefulness for this sweet family!
