This past weekend we had a treat! We drove down to visit my parents in Pueblo and spent our Saturday driving through San Isabel National Forest just enjoying the scenery and the amazing changing colors. And apparently we even missed the peak of the color by two whole weeks, but it didn’t feel that way with amount of trees still glistening in the sunshine. It was extra special to spend the day with my parents, as well, and our kiddos took every opportunity to hold Grandma and Grandpa’s hand as we explored.
I remember graduating from high school and being so excited about moving out of state for college to Texas- it was going to be amazing to see new places and make new friends! And it totally was! What I wasn’t prepared for, though, was the realization of how lucky I was to have grown up in such a beautiful state. Seeing the mountains everyday now, the rolling hills and expanse unfolding in front of me, seeing storms roll in from miles away – in all the places I’ve lived, this is by far my favorite. Plus, the mountains keep me oriented – they’re always west!
Here are some moments captured from our mountain drive adventure this weekend. I realized after the fact that I’m really bad about having others take pictures of me in them! So that will be on my goal list for our next adventure!
Beautiful! Thanks for sharing your explore with us. It looks like it was a fun time for everyone. 😊
